WorkPlace Big 5

I am in the process of getting certified with the WorkPlace Big 5 and enjoying what I am learning. It’s a personality assessment that explores traits that appear in a correlated set of behaviors.

The five traits are Need for stability, Extraversion, Originality, Accommodation, and Consolidation. Each has its sub traits, and there are 23 in total for all five traits.

What I like about this assessment are

  • Along with each trait and subtrait score, three trait variances show the behavior is demonstrated consistently, situationally, or flexibly. These variances add an extra dimension to the context and broaden the perspective beyond an absolute data view.
  • Subtraits help define each trait more fully and deepen one’s understanding of humanity. For example, I experience strong emotions (situationally) when I perceive the need to defend justice; simultaneously, it takes me less time to recover (constantly) than most others. The combination of the 4 subtracts puts my personality towards resilience in the Need for Stability trait.
  • It uses trait energy to help people understand how personalities help or hinder him/her at work since each trait can charge or drain energy, i.e., each provides opportunities and challenges.

Stay tuned for my subsequent reflection after completing the process.
