Trust

When I work with my clients on emotional intelligence, one area that often needs more attention is their ability to be attuned to all their emotions. We would work on dissociating from emotions with positive or negative implications, having the courage to accept them all, and feeling safe with them. To me,  this ability is the foundation of self-acceptance and relationship-building.

Tonight I was reading Transmissions for the Soul on trust, and that opened up my eyes to another perspective about owning our emotions; i.e., trust.  I am sharing the anatomy of genuine trust from the book.

  • Trust begins with the body – learning to listen to the subtle signals, to know when you are safe and when you are not.
  • Trust deepens in the emotional field. You allow yourself to feel without shame, to honour your inner experience without bypassing or suppressing it.
  • Trust matures in the mind – when thoughts are met with loving awareness, when belief systems are questioned and refined, and when the inner critic transforms into an inner guide.
  • Trust flowers in the soul – when you realise that life is not happening to you, but through you, and ultimately for you.

Hope you enjoy this anatomy as much as I do.
