Practices for a Spiritual Life

“Are you a God?” the Buddha was asked.

“No,” he replied.

“Are you an angel, then?” “No.”

“Then what are you?”

Replied the Buddha, “I am awake.”

I am reading the book “The World of Shamanism” by Roger Walsh.

He points out seven practices that global sages emphasize as essential for a full spiritual life.

  1. Living ethically,
  2. Transforming emotions,
  3. Redirecting motivation,
  4. Training attention,
  5. Refining awareness,
  6. Cultivating wisdom,
  7. Serving others.

Living ethically and authentically matters to me, followed by cultivating wisdom and serving others.

Are you developing your spirituality? What are essential for you? How do you further develop them?
