Leadership Development

When we discuss leadership, we tend to tell leaders they should do this or that to become better leaders. The fact is that they might want to, but they are not ready to.

Many coaches play a crucial role in leadership development. We are familiar with the concept of readiness. When our client is ready, they can move to the next step. Before arriving at readiness, they will hold on to their narratives and resist moving to a new perspective or practice

These were cases in ancient China where the emperor’s imperial councilor committed suicide after giving feedback that was not received well. They wanted to use their life to make a point to change the emperor’s behavior, and they failed to develop their emperors with such dramatic actions.

Therefore, leadership development is about recognizing a leader’s readiness and helping them overcome barriers, including rewriting their narratives. When leaders are internally ready, they can perform the expected external tasks and lead more effectively. Leadership coaching is a vital part of this process, and I am proud to contribute in this capacity.
