Leaders in a big organization don’t often get the nuance of what’s going on. How do they make decisions or evaluate the decisions made? I saw a function unit becoming a bottle neck in a big organization for a while and there was no solution to the problem. Maybe it’s not clear to the leader that the problem has been costing the organization. Maybe the leader doesn’t even know there has been a problem. The fact is that the leader is too isolated to handle a problem that his team is not able to handle. That’s a deadly place to be for a leader.
