Kindness
The Chinese saying, “A good heart will receive good karma.” is one of my dad’s living principles.
Watching him living self-sufficiently in good health at 95, I witness the power of a good heart.
From time to time, I noticed his kindness was also driven by people-pleasing, i.e., he gave away time, effort, and money that could have served him or his family.
Therefore, an inquiry: How do we set boundaries between a good heart and a desire to please?
If you are always the one taking on an extra load at work, check your heart: “Am I kind, or am I pleasing?” When your focus is all about work, someone has to give. Is that your loved ones or yourself?
Are you too kind to say no when you go with the flow? What is the impact of your kindness?
How do you set boundaries when your heart is calling?
