Last January, I set a goal to swim 10 laps instead of 8. I rarely did 10 laps, but I did 9 consistently. This year, I am shooting for 12.
There are different opinions about setting goals for the new year. I would say it depends. I probably stayed at 8 laps if I didn’t have a goal. Therefore, a measurement helped me determine what I intended to make progress.
If you are comfortable with water, you might think my goal was insignificant; for example, my daughter can do more than 60 laps while I do my 9.
